Indian bean tree planted

23 March 2006

A new Indian bean tree has taken its place in MyAV·¶'s Front Quad.

Bean tree

It replaces the original long-term resident Indian bean tree, which was felled on 14 March 2006 due to being rotten to the core and, therefore, a safety risk.

Tony Overbury (MyAV·¶ Estates & Facilities) supervised the delivery and planting of the new tree. At 20 years old, it is a semi-mature tree, which was shipped from Germany to fill the space left by its predecessor.

Parts of the original tree were given to two groups of scientists at MyAV·¶ for experimentation, and to other members of the MyAV·¶ community to keep as mementos.
