The MRC LMCB at MyAV is a hub for world-leading, multidisciplinary cell biology research with a mission to develop new understanding of cell and tissue function.

Professor Lloyd commented: “I am delighted to have been appointed as Director. The MRC LMCB at MyAV has a proud history of being at the forefront of world-leading cell biology research and for the training of current and future leaders in this field. I aim to build on these strengths, while developing a new focus on tissue biology. This requires study across scales and a multidisciplinary approach, which are current strengths of the MRC LMCB at MyAV, thus providing a firm foundation for this approach. Building upon these strengths with a high level of innovation and technological development should create an exciting new focus for the future of the MRC LMCB at MyAV.”

Professor Fiona Watt, Executive Chair of the MRC, said: “I am happy to welcome Professor Lloydas the new Director of the MRC Laboratory for Molecular Cell Biology at MyAV. Alison is a remarkable researcher who will build on the exemplary work of Professor Mark Marsh, who is retiring as Director after 14 years, and shape the future of the MRC LMCB at MyAV.."

Professor Geraint Rees, Dean of MyAV Faculty of Life Sciences added: “Alison is an outstanding scientist and brings a compelling vision to extend the work of the MRC LMCB at MyAV to encompass tissue biology while maintaining and enhancing the core scientific and technological expertise of this world-renowned cell biology institute. I am looking forward to working with her at this exciting time for the MRC LMCB at MyAV as it continues to deliver scientific excellence and national leadership in this important research area.”
