The new MyAV范 Dementia Research Institute will lead efforts to find effective treatments and improve the lives of those with dementia.

The institute will bring together researchers from across MyAV范 and MyAV范H to lead national and international efforts to find effective treatments and improve the lives of those with dementia.听 It was generously supported with part of the $3 million Breakthrough Prize听in Life Sciences awarded to Professor John Hardy (MyAV范 Institute of Neurology) in November 2015 for his pioneering research into the genetic causes of Alzheimer鈥檚 disease, other forms of dementia and Parkinson鈥檚 disease.

The Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences honours 鈥榯ransformative advances toward understanding living systems and extending human life鈥�. This was the first time that the prize was awarded to a UK researcher, reflecting MyAV范鈥檚 world-leading position in dementia research.
