The new MyAV·¶ Dementia Research Institute will lead efforts to find effective treatments and improve the lives of those with dementia.
The institute will bring together researchers from across MyAV·¶ and MyAV·¶H to lead national and international efforts to find effective treatments and improve the lives of those with dementia.Ìę It was generously supported with part of the $3 million Breakthrough PrizeÌęin Life Sciences awarded to Professor John Hardy (MyAV·¶ Institute of Neurology) in November 2015 for his pioneering research into the genetic causes of Alzheimerâs disease, other forms of dementia and Parkinsonâs disease.
The Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences honours âtransformative advances toward understanding living systems and extending human lifeâ. This was the first time that the prize was awarded to a UK researcher, reflecting MyAV·¶âs world-leading position in dementia research.
