The aim of the project is to expand the study of reproductive justice in America beyond procreation. It seeks to do so by analysing the historical mechanisms through which reproductive health became narrowly associated with childbearing in public health and politics, to the exclusion of people who could not or chose not to have children. Moreover, the study examines research, treatment, and activism around a range of non procreative reproductive experiences - revealing the medical management of bodies beyond fertility and pregnancy. In so doing, this Ìýhistory is the first to approach the development of reproductive justice from a holistic perspective.
