Exploring the 'MyAV范 Brain Bank'

There is great potential to leverage the fantastic resources available in MyAV范 collections. We believe those resources can be used to maximise student engagement and learning experience across a variety of courses and modules. In the previous year, the Brain and Behaviour module successfully employed the MyAV范 Brain Bank (brain specimen from MyAV范 Pathology Museum) in an enjoyable active lecture. Our aim within this project is to build on that foundation and use it as a model to extend it to other modules across MyAV范.

Dimension 3: students make connections across subjects and out into the world

Giving students the opportunity to make conceptual connections between their own subject (psychology/neuroscience) and other disciplines within MyAV范 (anatomy/neurophysiology/neuropsychiatry);

Dimenision 4: Students connect academic learning with workplace learning

Giving students the chance to enhance academic learning with the practical skills of examining and diagnosing cases of neural trauma according to brain specimen and clinical notes. In this way, students of this active lecture will work in groups to think, communicate and work creatively on course material in this novel setting unique resources.
