MyAV范 Engineering launches new partnership with Students鈥� Union MyAV范 Volunteering Service

MyAV范 Engineering and the听Students鈥� Union MyAV范 Volunteering Service are excited to announce a new partnership which will see听increased opportunities for MyAV范 Engineering students, as well as a data sharing agreement between the two parties.
MyAV范 Engineering has a well-established, award-winning education engagement听programme. Volunteering is at the core of our engagement strategy -听it is听about making a real difference and collectively contributing towards a more culturally and scientifically engaged society.听听
Success听of our听programmes听unquestionably depends upon the vital contribution of our student volunteers - their passion and active engagement bring events to life; they are the best ambassadors for STEM and Engineering.听听
MyAV范 students tell us听that volunteering helps them develop invaluable听transferable skills. It听can also help improve their听wellbeing,听and听can give them new perspectives on their academic subject. It also gives them the chance to make positive changes within the wider world, and to play a part within communities beyond听MyAV范.听
Dr听Elpida听Makrygianni听MBE,听Head of Education Engagement at MyAV范 Engineering, explains:听
We believe that volunteering has the power to transform听lives听of the people in the communities we serve. Our over 800 staff and students have been actively supporting communities and working closely with听organisations听on a wide range of projects. There is a real appetite to give back and make a difference, so we are delighted to have teamed up with Students鈥� Union MyAV范 Volunteering Service to offer high-quality volunteering opportunities to students and staff.鈥澨�
Students' Union MyAV范 Volunteering Service (VS) exists to connect all MyAV范 students with good quality, rewarding volunteering across London. The VS matches听students up with opportunities from听their voluntary sector partners, supports听students to set up and run their own community activities and brings听together Master's students and community听organisations听for collaborative research听projects.听

As MyAV范 Engineering volunteer student tutor Zarin Haque notes, the best aspect of volunteering听
鈥�...is the bonding and social experience... [my tutees鈥橾听zeal to learn and excel inspires me to put in more effort听for my own assignments and exams.鈥澨�
Dr Alice Moon, Careers Consultant from the MyAV范 Engineering Faculty Careers Team,听adds:
鈥�This partnership is really exciting. Volunteering is a fantastic way for students to develop their employability - their skills, knowledge, experiences, networks, and more - in ways that we know employers really value. We regularly see Engineering students articulating what they have gained from their volunteer projects to make a positive impact in their CVs and interviews."
In a post-COVID-19 world,听MyAV范 Engineering and the VS听have even more to offer to the communities we serve, and听we believe听it is our collective duty to听do so.听听
