Megan鈥檚 background is in environmental anthropology, particularly the social science of conservation and development. Having completed her BA Hons in Archaeology and Anthropology at MyAV范 in 2014, Megan spent three years working with indigenous communities in Peru and Papua New Guinea on community-led rainforest conservation projects with the NGO 鈥淐ool Earth鈥�. She then returned to MyAV范 to study an MSc in Anthropology, Environment and Development in 2017.

Following her Masters, Megan worked for a number of small, international NGOs, developing Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) tools and approaches to enable a better understanding of project impacts. A particular focus of her work has been on participatory MEL, supporting and training project beneficiaries to understand and take ownership of monitoring and evaluation processes.

At ExCiteS, Megan is developing materials and courses to train and support existing and potential users on ExCiteS鈥� tools and methods.

Alongside her work as a Research Assistant for ExCiteS, Megan is currently a PhD student at the University of York. Her doctoral work focuses on rights-based approaches to forest conservation and the role of environmental knowledge in environmental justice. Her research interests also include participatory monitoring听and gendered dimensions of natural resource governance.
