Global Engagement Funds (GEF)
Between 拢500-拢5,000 is available per project to help support MyAV范 staff in any field collaborate with colleagues听in any other country around the world.听Funding can support a wide variety of activities and research initiatives. The 2024/25 funding call opened on 24 May 2024 and closed on 21 June 2024.
Partner Funds
A number of听funding streams are available to support joint projects between MyAV范 staff and those at听MyAV范's key global partner institutions.听In most cases, global partners have matched the funds committed by MyAV范 for these funding streams, meaning larger overall pots of funding are available.听Several funding streams open in the spring, with others becoming available from 6 Sep 2024.
Research Capacity Strengthening (RCS) Fellowship 2024
The RCS Fellowship is a joint initiative by Global Engagement (GE) and Research Innovation Services (RIS). It is designed to enhance research management ecosystems through bidirectional fellowships with global partners. Now in its second year, the RCS Fellowship has partnered with the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) and the University of Cape Town (UCT) in South Africa. In July 2024, MyAV范 hosted three Fellows from Wits and UCT.听The RCS Fellowship opens on 2 Sep听and will close on 23听Sep听2024.
Reach Alliance 2024 鈥� call for proposal
This call for proposals seeks applications for funding to the next round of the Reach Alliance. Funding of up to 拢20k is available to support a team of 3-5 MyAV范 students, mentored by 1 or 2 PIs, to lead an 18-month research project responding to an urgent challenge of reaching the hardest to reach.听The call opens on 30听Aug听and will close on听4 Oct听2024.

Bringing MyAV范 to Japan through Egyptology
With support from the听Global Engagement Funds (GEF), Dr Anna Garnett (MyAV范 Petrie Museum) is revitalising historical connections between MyAV范 and Japan in Egyptian archaeology.
Understanding how party foot soldiers impact voters in Zimbabwe
Dr Adam Harris (MyAV范 Political Science) used MyAV范-Wits University Strategic Partner Funds to run focus groups with individuals affected by party foot soldiers in urban Zimbabwe.
Support for external global research funding
MyAV范 provides support to help identify and develop strong research proposals for global research funding in low- and middle-income countries. This includes support and advice for Official Development Assistance (ODA) funded research activity. Please note that some external funding calls are subject to an institutional cap. If听so, applications must be referred to the relevant听Research Facilitation or Coordination Office for your School听that听leads听MyAV范鈥檚 internal selection processes. You should also seek approval from your department and Research Services in line with the usual approval process.
