Senior Lecturer in Medieval History

What is your role and what does it involve?

At the moment my role is mostly a research one,ÌýI have been on departmental research leave and am about to start a Leverhulme Fellowship. In the past my role has includedÌýteaching, research, departmental administration, as well as more ad hoc outreach and public engagement activities.

How long have you been at MyAV·¶ and what was your previous role?

I have been at MyAV·¶ since 2010 andÌýI also did my PhD here. I previously worked as aÌýjunior research fellow in history at St John’s College, Oxford.Ìý

What attracted you to MyAV·¶?

A great and happy department and colleagues, the freedom to teach to my research interests, wonderful students, super medieval colleagues across MyAV·¶ and London more widely, and specialist libraries only to be rivalled in a handful of other places internationally.Ìý

What working achievement or initiative at MyAV·¶ (or in previous work experiences) are you most proud of?Ìý

I was very proud that my first book, Officers and Accountablity in Medieval England, won the Royal Historical Society’s Whitfield Prize 2015 for best first book on British/Irish history.
