Professor Rees wins MyAV·¶U Student Choice Teaching Award

Professor Rees, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Brain Sciences at MyAV·¶ and Director of the MyAV·¶ Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, has been awarded the MyAV·¶U Student Choice Teaching Award for Outstanding Researcher Development.

The overarching principle of these awards, which are voted for and decided on by MyAV·¶ students, is to recognise and reward those who have made an outstanding contribution to the improvement of students’ lives at MyAV·¶.  They celebrate those individuals who have gone above and beyond to support teaching and learning. 

There are four categories, celebrating Outstanding Teaching, Outstanding Support for Teaching and Outstanding Personal Support and the newly created Outstanding Researcher Development.

The 2014 winners of the Outstanding Researcher Development are :

  • - MyAV·¶Â Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience
  •  - MyAV·¶ Division of Psychology and Language Sciences

Professor Geraint Rees' research focuses on understanding the neural basis of human consciousness in health and disease, using functional and structural brain imaging. He is a Principal Investigator at MyAV·¶ Institute of Neurology and manages a number of early career researchers. Passionate about academic and clinical academic training, including as a PhD supervisor at MyAV·¶ Institute of Neurology, he set up and directs the MyAV·¶ School of Life and Medical Sciences Academic Careers Office.

The delivers innovative and original careers advice, mentorship and training; strategic leadership for MyAVᦉ۪s biomedical training portfolio; and actively manages and develops the intellectual talent across MyAVᦉ۪s biomedical students and staff.

Daniela Warr Schori, Head of Teaching and Learning Support, MyAV·¶ Institute of Neurology was one of the nominees for Outstanding Support for Teaching.
