1769 - 1852
Awarded part of the compensation for Tryall estate in Hanover Jamaica with others, ownership apparently descending from the Acres family of Hanover.
George Sandby (c. 1769-1852), son of 'George of Denton, Norfolk, doctor', Â matric. Merton 17/04/1786 aged 17 BA 1790 MA 1793 Rector of Earsham Norfolk 1809, died 08/02/1852. This George Sandby had a son in turn, also George, who matric. Merton 19/06/1816 aged 17; BA 1820, MA 1825, rector of All Saints and St Nicholas South Elmham, vicar of Flixton Suffolk from 1842 until his death in 1880. Â
George Sandby aged 82 Clergyman without cure is shown as living at Denton Lodge in the 1851 census with daughter Marie [sic] aged 47. George Sandby clerk rector of Denton in Norfolk married by license Mary Acres 'of this parish' at St Michael Cornhill 02/05/1758: one of the witnesses was John Hyde. Â Â Â Â
Will of Rev. Geo. Sandby of Denton lodge Norfolk proved 14/04/1852 PROB 11/2151. Rev. George Sandby (c. 1799-23/11/1880) late of Denton Lodge and 32 Cambridge Square Hyde Park left personal estate under £25,000 on his death. It appears that Tryall estate in Hanover was associated with the Acres family, given that Rev. George Sandby's (d. 1852) mother was Mary Acres and that a co-claimant was Francis Acres Hyde, the grandson of Katherine Acres, Mary Acres' sister.
Rev. George Sandby's father was George Sandby DD Rector of St Mary's Church, Denton, 1750-1807 (q.v. under Dr George Sandby). Chancellor of the Norwich Diocese and Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge University. Lived at Denton Lodge rather than the Rectory.

[accessed 07/01/2012]. The life dates appear to be incorrect; if they are accurate, this could not be the George Sandby who married in 1758 and is unlikely to be the father of George Sandby (c. 1769-1852).
