MyAV·¶ Mental Health Strategy

The MyAV·¶ Mental Health Strategy underpins the Institute of Mental Health.

I am delighted to introduce MyAVᦉ۪s Mental Health Strategy; a document supporting our vision for interdisciplinary mental health research.

Underpinning this strategy is MyAVᦉ۪s flagship Institute of Mental Health (IoMH), launched in 2019 as a vehicle to centralise research and expertise in mental health from across the university. The institute aims to address a full spectrum of lifelong mental health issues from developmental disorders in childhood, to dementia in the elderly.

Sitting within the Faculty of Brain Sciences, the IoMH facilitates collaboration from across all eleven of MyAVᦉ۪s academic faculties that are actively engaged in mental health research, to ensure we achieve the full potential of interdisciplinary opportunities. The institute seeks to drive the translation of mental health research into clinical care and positive patient impact.

Colleagues across MyAV·¶ are developing pioneering approaches to the diagnosis, consultation and treatment of mental illness, embracing new technologies in neurophysiology, molecular genetics and multimodal imaging to push the boundaries of mental health research and deliver breakthrough treatments to the front line.

Through integrating early career development, research excellence and our work with strategic partners including industry, policymakers, service users and carers, we have an unparalleled opportunity to deliver long-term benefits to our community of students and staff, the NHS, charity and education services in the UK, and scholars and health professionals across the globe.

Find out more how MyAV·¶ is transforming mental health and social wellbeing for all through the Covid-19 epidemic.
