Description
Content: In this practical module you will apply the moving image concepts and tools developed in Year 1 to the telling of a story through film. Looking at a wide range of examples including archive films, documentary and fiction drawn from diverse filmmakers and screen histories you will analyse, and explore through practice, how moving images shape imaginative representations of our world and can make visible hidden and complex stories.
Working with the special collections team at MyAV·¶ East you will identify a curious text, map or image from the MyAV·¶ collections that you can speculate and build a screen story from, be it fiction, documentary or archival. Working with your source object you will learn how to construct a story for screen, from initial idea, through research, pre-production, production and post-production. You will consider how approaches to pitching, character, script, location, cinematography and sound differ in different genres of screen production. Technical methods workshops will introduce you to the use and application of different lenses, focus control and studio techniques such as green screen. During the development of your diverse range of projects you will support and learn from each other through workshopping and peer critique seminars.
