Description
Compulsory for 1st year single-honours Economics (L100, L101 and L102) students. Optional for Economics and Geography (LL17), Philosophy and Economics (VL51) and BA European Social and Political Studies (R990) students (compulsory if taking the Economics Specialisation route).
The module will cover the following topics through lectures and tutorials:
1. Probability Basics
2. Random Variables, Expectations
3. Discrete/Continuous Distributions
4. Law of Large MyAV·¶s, Central Limit Theorem
5. Statistics Basics
6. Point/Interval Estimation
7. Hypothesis Testing
8. The Linear Regression Model
In addition, students will be introduced to the Statistics software package STATA and learn its basic features and commands.

Prerequisites: ECON0002 must be taken concurrently.
