High IQ

12 August 2005

MyAV·¶ student Hamad Al Sayed (Economic & Statistics 3) has one of the highest IQs in the world according to the high-IQ society Mensa.

Hamad describes his Mensa success as ‘an amazing feeling’ Hamad scored 137 in the Mensa IQ test, placing him in the top one per cent of IQs globally.

Hamad sat a preliminary Mensa IQ test online, scoring an impressive 26 out of 30 which then qualified him to take the full test. Hamad, who has completed several other versions of the IQ test, believes Mensa's test is the most accurate way of measuring IQ: "Mensa believes that the variability of scores/scales among different tests taken by people makes it hard to compare one score with another. For example, certain online test will give you ridiculous scores such as 175 for accurately adding two numbers. Mensa's idea is simple - get everyone to set the same test and organise their scores into percentiles, thus comparisons between results can be made."

Commenting on his achievement, Hamad said: "It's an amazing feeling - it really does feel good! It also looks great on a CV and gives me a slight edge in today's increasingly competitive job market."
