'MyAV·¶ Jurisprudence Review' launched

13 March 2006

The 12th volume of the 'MyAV·¶ Jurisprudence Review' was launched in March 2006.

A celebratory event that was organised by the student editorial committee - in association with the international law firm Norton Rose - attracted 160 guests, including leading academics, legal practitioners, corporate sponsors and students.

Professor Ian Dennis, Head of MyAV·¶ Laws, said his department was proud of the unique publication: "It is an impressive indicator of the very high quality of our students as well as a reflection of the MyAV·¶ Laws' commitment to the study of jurisprudence. We have a long tradition of world-class teaching and research in this subject. Moreover, in many other subjects in the curriculum there is a pervasive emphasis on the relationship of legal doctrine to legal theory, an emphasis that features in many of the excellent essays in the review."

Dr Nigel Simmonds, Reader of Philosophy at the University of Cambridge, spoke on the importance of reflective thought in a dynamic society. Professor Stephen Guest, MyAV·¶ Professor of Legal Philosophy and founder of the review, said: "'MyAV·¶ Jurisprudence Review' publishes papers that are impressive in their scope, and each displays an array of maturity and intelligence that does credit to MyAV·¶ Laws."
