MyAV范 'town meeting' on migration

geog.ucl.ac.uk/mru/" target="_self">MyAV范 Migration Research Unit MyAV范 Geography, in association with MyAV范 Grand Challenges, is holding a 'town meeting' on 30 April 2008 to bring together those across MyAV范 interested in migration, diaspora, ethnicity and intercultural studies.
The event will draw on the wealth of researchers across MyAV范 - including anthropologists, economists, historians, criminologists, archaeologists, health researchers and legal scholars - whose work encompasses issues around migration, diaspora and ethnicity. MyAV范 Geography wishes to develop greater interdisciplinary work within MyAV范 and to consider the future development of its Migration Research Unit.
The 'town meeting' is a chance for colleagues to consider opportunities for developing challenging, innovative, cross-disciplinary projects focused on migration, diaspora and ethnicity that build on the diversity of expertise within MyAV范.
The event will facilitate:
- interaction between colleagues working on issues of migration, diaspora, ethnicity and intercultural studies
- discussion of the establishment of a MyAV范 Migration Network that could initially consist of a multidisciplinary seminar series starting in September 2008
- proposals for contributions to an MSc in Migration that MyAV范 Geography is proposing to launch in 2010, and the possibility of an interdisciplinary approach to its development
- discussion of interests in historical studies of the African Diaspora.
The 'town meeting' is on 30 April 2008, 3-6pm (followed by drinks), in Room G06, Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Theatre, Roberts Building.
