IRIS: the wealth of MyAV·¶ research in one place
30 June 2011
The MyAV·¶ Institutional Research Information System (IRIS) will soon become a resource accessible to the public.
IRIS will showcase MyAV·¶'s research and researchers to the
wider world. IRIS will display profiles
for all research staff, act as a gateway to all departments, research groups,
interdisciplinary centres, institutes and virtual research networks across MyAV·¶
and allow visitors to find the information they are looking for from one easily
accessible location.
For a preview visit
This web-based application provides access to profiles for all current MyAV·¶ staff engaged in research, and includes information on 200 departments, sub-departments, institutes and centres engaged in research, and over 500 research groups.
IRIS will reduceÌýthe administrative effort required to meet the changing demands of research assessment, monitoring and audit. It will assist interdisciplinary and cross faculty applications for funding and support the mission of MyAV·¶ in facing up to the 'Grand Challenges' of the 21st century.
Researchers can view and update their profiles and research administrators can
update their research groups to provide a complete picture of research
activities across the whole university. The data in IRIS can also be used dynamically in department websites.
Since November 2010 the School
of Life and Medical Sciences
has been using IRIS to populate their people profiles and several research
groups are already using the content dynamically in their websites. Further information can be found on the .
