Bloomsbury Festival 2016: £500 event grants available for MyAV·¶ students Ìý

This year's theme is 'Language' and festival organisers are looking for exciting event ideas that will engage the public with the theme in all its forms - speech, literature, symbols, non-verbal communication, gesture and performance.Ìý

This could range from a computer coding workshop for children or a performance piece using sign language, to a presentation of a foreign language film or a verbal sound installation. In particular, organisers encourage submissions that find interesting ways to animate MyAV·¶'s research.Ìý

You could have previously developed and delivered your proposed event, or are keen to develop something new with the support of the MyAV·¶ Public and Cultural Engagement (PACE) department team. Events delivered as part of last year's Festival to give you inspiration, can be found on .

Expressions of interest

In order to obtain a grant, please provide anÌýexpression of interest of between 300-500 wordsÌýthat outlines:

  • the area of research you would like to explore and how it relates to the theme of language
  • the type of event or activity you would like to deliver and what audience it is likely to attract
  • the types outcomes you hope to achieve from the event (e.g. increasing awareness about an issue that gets little attention, community skill building, raising aspirations of young people to study a specific HE subject).Ìý

You should also state the grant amount you seek. Funding can be used to cover expenses such as equipment, materials, commissions and/or support staff.

Please send your statement of interest in a Word document with your name, title, department and contact information via email to Rebekah Seymour by 5pm onÌý12 May 2016.
