Objectives

Summary of Specific Objectives for 2017-22

  • Coordinate multidisciplinary, cross-faculty RDR research at MyAV·¶ and lead bids for major RDR programmes.
  • Provide a cross-MyAV·¶ platform for winning research funding from the ÂŁ1.5 billion Global Challenge Research Fund  (GCRF), focusing on, 1) building disaster resilience in developing countries and, 2) humanitarian challenges and migration
  • Establish a transdisciplinary research centres in Gender Responsive Resilience
  • Establish a transdisciplinary research centres in Digital Global Health
  • Build the Risk and Disaster Reduction Doctoral Research Centre to a target population of 30 students
  • Forge partnerships with industry and commerce, humanitarian agencies, international universities and institutes and UK professional and governmental bodies
  • Develop the Humanitarian Tech Hub, to support innovative solutions to humanitarian challenges, which build on existing technological developments across MyAV·¶, fusing MyAV·¶'s science, social science, engineering and health expertise, to innovate products, systems and training
  • Publish high-impact RDR multidisciplinary reports to influence public policy
  • Organize keynote lectures, international workshops, seminar series, e-newsletter and partner-focused special reports to raise the external profile of MyAV·¶ RDR activities
  • Coordinate RDR teaching across MyAV·¶, providing a portal to potential students for all programmes
  • Develop innovative masters teaching in risk and data science and in humanitarian crisis and response
  • Develop bespoke courses for industry and commerce and humanitarian agencies
  • Provide a central, physical base and resource centre for MyAV·¶ RDR activities, acting as a Bloomsbury hub for RDR members and partners and host for external visitors
