Professor Dame Hazel Genn appointed as MyAV范 Vice-Provost (International)

Professor Dame Hazel Genn will succeed Dame Nicola Brewer in the role of Vice-Provost (International) from 17 August 2020
Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Professor of Socio-Legal Studies at听MyAV范 Laws听and Director of the听MyAV范 Centre for Access to Justice, has been appointed听as MyAV范听Vice-Provost (International & Advancement).
This follows Dame Nicola Brewer鈥檚 decision to step down in听September and听shift to a non-executive career, after serving for over six years as Vice-Provost (International),听and more recently supporting the Office of the Vice-Provost (Advancement) during Lori Houlihan鈥檚 absence due to ill health and then retirement.听
As Vice-Provost (International), Dame Nicola听has led on the development and implementation of the Global Engagement Strategy (GES), setting out how MyAV范 would deliver greater global impact:听by working with partners to achieve fairer solutions to global challenges. The GES听reached听its five-year milestone this year.
MyAV范 Council approved the proposal for Dame Hazel鈥檚 appointment as Vice-Provost (International & Advancement) on 9 July 2020 on an interim basis, pending a permanent recruitment process to be instituted in due course.
Since the beginning of April 2020, Dame Hazel has been serving at MyAV范 senior management level, leading on Public Affairs for the Provost. Her previous service as Pro-Vice-Provost (Alumni) from 2017-2020 and Pro-Vice-Provost (International) from 2019-2020听will be invaluable in taking forward these two critical areas of MyAV范 activity.
The Global Engagement Office wishes Dame Nicola every success in her next steps and looks forward听to welcoming听Dame Hazel to the team in her new听Vice-Provost role.
