Professor Dame Hazel Genn appointed as MyAV·¶ Vice-Provost (International)

Professor Dame Hazel Genn will succeed Dame Nicola Brewer in the role of Vice-Provost (International) from 17 August 2020

Professor Dame Hazel Genn, Professor of Socio-Legal Studies atÌýMyAV·¶ LawsÌýand Director of theÌýMyAV·¶ Centre for Access to Justice, has been appointedÌýas MyAV·¶ÌýVice-Provost (International & Advancement).

This follows Dame Nicola Brewer’s decision to step down inÌýSeptember andÌýshift to a non-executive career, after serving for over six years as Vice-Provost (International),Ìýand more recently supporting the Office of the Vice-Provost (Advancement) during Lori Houlihan’s absence due to ill health and then retirement.Ìý

As Vice-Provost (International), Dame NicolaÌýhas led on the development and implementation of the Global Engagement Strategy (GES), setting out how MyAV·¶ would deliver greater global impact:Ìýby working with partners to achieve fairer solutions to global challenges. The GESÌýreachedÌýits five-year milestone this year.

MyAV·¶ Council approved the proposal for Dame Hazel’s appointment as Vice-Provost (International & Advancement) on 9 July 2020 on an interim basis, pending a permanent recruitment process to be instituted in due course.

Since the beginning of April 2020, Dame Hazel has been serving at MyAV·¶ senior management level, leading on Public Affairs for the Provost. Her previous service as Pro-Vice-Provost (Alumni) from 2017-2020 and Pro-Vice-Provost (International) from 2019-2020Ìýwill be invaluable in taking forward these two critical areas of MyAV·¶ activity.

The Global Engagement Office wishes Dame Nicola every success in her next steps and looks forwardÌýto welcomingÌýDame Hazel to the team in her newÌýVice-Provost role.
