1 April 2022

MyAV and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) have awarded seven projects funding to support innovative collaborations

SJTU campus

Following a successful first call last year, the second annual MyAV-SJTU Strategic Partner Funds has awarded seed funds to seven MyAV academics and their counterparts at SJTU.

MyAV and SJTU contributed joint funds to the successful projects, with each project receiving up to £10,000.

The joint projects will delve into topics such as marine microplastics, adaptive video streaming and sustainable personal protective equipment (PPE).

One of the funding recipients, Dr Hirak K Patra (MyAV Faculty of Medical Sciences), said: “I am working with Dr Zhigang Hu from the SJTU Centre of Hydrogen Science on developing environmentally-friendly smart PPE to curb the spreading of current and future fatal viruses, including COVID-19. This project is closely alignedwith the UN SDG-3, Good Health and Well-Being goal and the proposed strategy will benefit the UK, China and beyond in developing sustainable fabrics, adsorbent and protective coating. We invite all related stakeholders, agencies, and industries to support our initiative to develop effective green PPE for the future.”

Congratulations to all the MyAV-SJTU Strategic Partner Funds 2021/22 recipients:
